Job description

Core Purpose
 
The core purpose of the job is to analyse student data for Dissertations and Research reports. 
 
Core Functions Include
 
Statistical Services to Students
  • Provide descriptive and inferential statistical services to dissertation students with SPSS
  • Provide coding and assist in the analysis and write-up of qualitative data using Nvivo
  • Provide guidance to students on quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis and Interpretation
  • Provide ongoing advice and support in the assistance of completion of projects
  •  Assist with Pilot studies
  • Consult and advise on data analytic matters
  • Respond to all statistics related queries across all modes of communication
 
Data Analytic Services to Staff of Mancosa
  • Provide data analytic advice and support for academic staff in the publication of research papers
  • Provide advice to colleagues in Research Methodology and Data Analysis related areas
  • Assist the DAU Manager on other projects on an ad hoc basis
 
General Administration
  • Record keeping
  • Liaising with Finance on payments
  • Provide research information for students
  • Update and maintain all standard operating procedures and documents relating to the DAU
  • POPI compliance & Required Signed documentation
  • Pamphlet/Booklet/Information Guide /Newsletters



Minimum requirements

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in mathematics or statistics
Experience
  • Demonstrable exposure and application to mathematics and/or statistics
  • At least 5 years work experience in a data processing and analysis environment
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a higher education setting
  • Understanding of MIS data extraction and analysis

  • Knowledge of legislated requirements in higher education

Additional Requirements
  • After hours and Saturday work may be required.
