Job description
Core Purpose
The core purpose of the job is to analyse student data for Dissertations and Research reports.
Core Functions Include
Statistical Services to Students
- Provide descriptive and inferential statistical services to dissertation students with SPSS
- Provide coding and assist in the analysis and write-up of qualitative data using Nvivo
- Provide guidance to students on quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis and Interpretation
- Provide ongoing advice and support in the assistance of completion of projects
- Assist with Pilot studies
- Consult and advise on data analytic matters
- Respond to all statistics related queries across all modes of communication
Data Analytic Services to Staff of Mancosa
- Provide data analytic advice and support for academic staff in the publication of research papers
- Provide advice to colleagues in Research Methodology and Data Analysis related areas
- Assist the DAU Manager on other projects on an ad hoc basis
General Administration
- Record keeping
- Liaising with Finance on payments
- Provide research information for students
- Update and maintain all standard operating procedures and documents relating to the DAU
- POPI compliance & Required Signed documentation
- Pamphlet/Booklet/Information Guide /Newsletters
Minimum requirements
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in mathematics or statistics
Experience
- Demonstrable exposure and application to mathematics and/or statistics
- At least 5 years work experience in a data processing and analysis environment
- At least 2 years’ experience in a higher education setting
- Understanding of MIS data extraction and analysis

Additional Requirements
- After hours and Saturday work may be required.
