Academic Programme Coordinator: Project Management CORE PURPOSE The role of an Academic Programme Coordinator within the School of Project Management is integral to fostering student success and academic distinction while contributing to the strategic growth of both the students and the institution. This position encompasses a broad range of responsibilities that support the effective management and enhancement of academic programmes. It involves a committed approach to Programme Management and Leadership, as well as thorough Programme Planning and Administration, Programme Admission and Delivery, and Stakeholder Engagement, Development, and Recognition. Additionally, the role demands a focus on Programme Intelligence, Programme Governance, and the execution of Programme Cycle Reviews, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with best practices.
Job description

CORE FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  •         Programme Management and coordination (within the confines of MANCOSA’s vision, mission, and strategy)
  •      To coordinate the development and continuous improvement of programme teaching and learning and the programme assessment strategy create a monitoring process, through the management of a tracker for the programme
  •         To assist with measuring of graduate attributes through the coordination of engagement between the Academic Programme Leader (APL) and students across the programme
  •         To assist with research on opportunities to advance the school's programme offering and school strategy (programme growth, articulation, etc.)
  •         To assist the APL with Programme Planning and Administration in collaboration with Institutional Planning
  •         To liaise with academic administrators in relation to academic readiness for each semester
  •         To create and monitor academic administrators progress trackers
  •         To the assist the APL with the recruitment and appointment of suitable academic deliverables 
  •        Facilitation of webinars
  •         Assessment development / Marking
  •         Stakeholder Engagement, Development and Recognition
  •         To coordinate appropriate Community Engagement initiatives and activities
  •         To assist with the planning and coordination of Delivery of academic events for internal and external academic staff
  •         Student Engagement and Success in Programme
  •         To assist with aligning students with Programme specific career guidance in collaboration with Career Centre
  •         Programme Intelligence to engage with relevant stakeholders in an attempt to request information on Student assessment performance.
  •         To assist the APL with programme benchmarking and development of new programmes within the school
  •         Programme Governance (Monitoring, Evaluation and Risk Management)
  •         To assist the APL identification and intervention for students at risk
  •         Programme Cyclical Review – Programme Quality Monitoring)
  •        To assist with module content review and update.
  •         To assist with coordinating of data and reports that will manage all internal and external quality assurance efforts

Minimum requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

  • MCom in Project Management (Master of Commerce in Project Management)
  • BCom Honours in Project Management (Postgraduate degree)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Advance computer literacy
  • 5 years’ experience in academia and industry
  • Demonstrate research engagement within the last three years
  • Commercial or industrial related experience (minimum 3 year)
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking towards teaching and learning skills

  • Candidates must be familiar with higher, distance and online education.
  • Candidates must display familiarity with the use of learning management systems.
  • Candidates must have a working knowledge of the South African Higher Education Regulatory Framework.
  • Curriculum and Programme content research, instructional design and development for online learning, and internal moderation.
  • Assessment design, development, moderation and implementation.
  • Student support and relationship management, effective and disciplined self-management, problem solving and creativity, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
  • Subject matter expertise in Project Management
  • Candidates are expected to comply with pre-determined time frames and deadlines.
  • Candidates must present themselves confidently, and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet and Email)
  • Excellent writing and reporting skills
