CORE PURPOSE
To oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department, ensuring the smooth functioning of all systems and processes. Responsible for managing a team as well as coordinating with other departments to meet business objectives and implementing best practices to optimize efficiency.
CORE FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
Infrastructure Management
• Overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, and data centres.
Service Delivery
• Ensuring the timely and effective delivery of IT services to end-users, meeting service level agreements (SLAs) and customer expectations.
Change And Release Management
• Planning, coordinating, and overseeing changes to IT systems and applications, ensuring proper testing, documentation, and communication to minimize risk.
Performance Monitoring And Optimization
• Monitoring the performance and availability of IT systems and applications, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
Vendor And Supplier Management
• Managing relationships with IT vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and products.
Budgeting & Financial Management
• Developing and managing the IT operations budget, allocating resources effectively, and controlling costs to achieve business objectives.
Incident And Problem Management
• Managing the resolution of IT incidents and problems, minimizing disruptions to business operations, and identifying root causes to prevent recurrence.
Team Leadership and Development
• Leading and developing a team of IT professionals, providing mentorship, training, and performance feedback to foster a high-performing and motivated workforce.
Governance and Reporting
• Governance and reporting to ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards by overseeing the implementation of IT governance frameworks, monitoring operational performance, and producing detailed reports that inform leadership on the health, risks, and efficiency of IT systems.
Minimum requirements
Qualification
Essential qualification - BSc Computer Science or similar. Industry recognized certifications such as ITIL or similar would be advantageous
Essential experience - Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT operations, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
Essential - Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour Knowledge of ITIL framework and other industry standards and best practices.
Physical Requirements of the Post
Must be physically and mentally fit
Willingness to work overtime when required.
Willingness to travel when required
