CORE PURPOSE
The core purpose of the IRU- Junior Data Analyst is to enhance the research capabilities of postgraduate students and contribute to the IRU by conducting comprehensive data analyses. This role focuses on training postgraduate students in research methodologies, designing effective research instruments, and generating insights from data to drive institutional improvement. The IRU- Junior Data Analyst plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between data collection and strategic decision-making, ensuring that institutional surveys are accurate and informative.

CORE FUNCTIONS INCLUDE
Institutional Research
Institutional Research
Data Collection and Survey Design
- Review and refine institutional survey instruments to ensure they are accurate and appropriate for collecting meaningful data.
- Engage with and analyse institutional surveys to extract valuable insights that inform decision-making.
Academic Support:
- Obtain and present relevant data at program and module levels to facilitate academic review and management
Institutional Intelligence:
- Conduct research activities aimed at understanding institutional challenges and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Gather and analyse benchmarking data to support institutional development.
Reporting and Dashboard Development:
- Produce temporal reports for cyclical surveys, highlighting trends and patterns over time.
- Write reports related to surveys, benchmarking, and other research activities.
- Create and maintain visual representations of institutional data through dashboards.
Data Analysis
Project-Specific Data Analysis:
- Conduct rigorous analysis of qualitative and quantitative data for specific projects, generating comprehensive reports and findings.
Insight Generation:
- Provide well-crafted written reports that accurately interpret data analyses, supporting the institution in making informed decisions.
- Postgraduate Student Workshops
Research Methodology Training:
- Develop and deliver workshops focused on research methodologies for postgraduate students undertaking the report/dissertation component of their programs.
- Ensure continuous improvement of training content to align with quality enhancement goals and feedback from internal reviewers, supervisors, and external examiners.
- Training Workshops:
- Organise and conduct six training workshops annually (September to August), focusing on areas identified for facilitation.
- Review nd adapt training content based on participant feedback to ensure it meets the evolving needs of postgraduate students.
Collaboration and Planning:
- Work closely with Research Directorate managers to conceptualise and develop a research training plan tailored to the needs of postgraduate students.
General Administration:
Administrative Support:
- Provide logistical and administrative assistance to support the smooth operation of the IRU.

Master’s degree in a relevant field, demonstrating advanced knowledge of research methodologies and data analysis.

A track record of working in a data processing and analysis environment, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
