Job description

Core Function
  •  Coordinate the implementation of the Teaching & Learning projects in alignment to teaching and learning plans.
  • Coordinate student academic development and support initiatives in the department
  • Collaborates with teaching staff to develop and implement a best practice teaching, learning and assessment paradigm
  • Remains current with contemporary educational research into 21st Century pedagogical approaches using relevant technologies to enhance learning;
  • Works collaboratively with the Teaching & Learning, Academic Delivery, Assessment and Curriculum directors leading the institutions teaching & learning agenda and code for Learning;
  • Managing the meeting agenda and minutes of all meetings initiated by the Teaching and Learning Department
  • Managing and coordinating all programmes and activities initiated by the Teaching & Learning Department.
  • Provides critical input into the professional development strategic directions of the institution
  • Models innovative learning, teaching and assessment practices in the classroom;
  • Support the Director of Learning in meeting the expectations described in school wide policies, including reporting procedures and deadlines
  • Comply with any reasonable request from a manager to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description


Accreditation and Compliance
  • Assurance of quality in all regulatory submissions for all programme accreditation and re-accreditation submissions
  • Consistently update knowledge on changes in legislation and policy in the education landscape
  • Submits documents in compliance with the Council of Higher Education (CHE), Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and South African Quality Assurance (SAQA) and any other regulatory body and the Monitoring & Evaluation Department within the institution.
  • Manages all quality assurance requirements and submissions that f=fall under the ambit of the Teaching & Learning Department
  • Manages all teaching and learning policy documents and various module teaching plans

Minimum requirements

Qualifications
  • Minimum Honour’s Degree in Education
  • Master's Degree in Education will be an advantage
  • BEd Degree as undergraduate degree
  • Higher Education experience preferable

Related Knowledge, Competencies and Skills
  • Essential Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour
  • Experience in formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
  • In depth knowledge of Education and Training legislature framework
  • Experience in dealing with regulatory affairs and academic quality assurance processes within a higher education environment.
  • High level of competency in MS Offices, particularly Word, Excel & Powerpoint
  • Able to establish effective working relationships with a variety of individuals and as part of a team
  • Analytical and quantitative skills appropriate to the management of measures of student success and learning analytics
